Mirror’s Hairstyle by Hisakazu Shimizu

01.15.10 | Comment?

Japanese designer Hisakazu Shimizu will show his work at an art gallery @btf in Katsudoki, Tokyo between January 22nd to February 28th.

Here is the summery of the press release.

WHY DO WE NEED HAIRS ON MIRRORS?

-BECAUSE WE USE MIRRORS TO CHECK OUR HAIR STYLES.

We use mirrors to check our hair styles. We want to make sure that what we see on a mirror is what othersĀ  do. A hair style is symbolic for us. Just by drawing somone’s hairstyle, we can show who it is. A mirror is different from a blankĀ  canvas. It does not give you anything materialistic. However, there is always something reflecting on a mirror. You can use these images just as a scratch left on a white canvas. For us looking at a mirror, everything we see is a source of our imagination.
