Toyo Ito’s design for Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive is partially unvailed. This is apprently his first project in the US. Only one image is available and it is hard to say what it would be like…but here is the description in the press release:

————————————————————————————-

Design renderings show a rectangular building with an exterior marked by gently sloping, angled walls and small patios, with an interior of interlocking, cube-like spaces. In addition to galleries, the design includes public gathering areas, such as a plaza-like extension of Center Street, study rooms, and space for public programs.

Construction of this building is expected to be completed in 2013.
