Nabeshima Ware – Design that Inspire Pride

“Nabeshima Ware – Design that Inspire Pride” is an exhibition which shows the highest quality porcelains manufactured between 17th – 19th century in the province of Saga, Kyushu, Japan. . “Nabeshima ware” were originally gifts brought to Shogun by the province of Saga. The exhibition started at Suntory museum in Tokyo on August 11th.

Art Brut Japonais

“Art Brut Japonais” exhibition will start on March 24th (until January 2nd 2011) at La halle saint pierre museum in Paris. 63 Japanese pop artists will exhibit their work. Part of the exhibition will be shown at Spirit Art Museum.

HOLLOW

Motohiko Odani’s solo exhibition has started at Maison Hermes in Ginza, Tokyo. Odani was born in Kyoto and currently based in Tokyo. He represented Japanese artists at Venice Biennal in 2003. His theme is  to “Express the dynamism surrounding our bodies”. It shows a feeling of pain and its change. The new work exhibited now shows the “air surrounding our bodies”, and “visualization of the movement”. Via: Excite.co.jp

Mirror’s Hairstyle by Hisakazu Shimizu

Japanese designer Hisakazu Shimizu will show his work at an art gallery @btf in Katsudoki, Tokyo between January 22nd to February 28th. Here is the summery of the press release. Architect Sou Fujimoto with Lexus

Lexus has been working with some of the top Japanese creators since they started participating in Milan Design Week. This year they chose architect Sou Fujimoto. The title is “Lexus – L finess Crystallized wind”. It is all made of acrylic. Japan Design 2008 – Innovation (Milan Design Week – 12)

15 established Japanese companies got together in Milan during the design week. Some were interesting – but others were quite boring. My favorite in this exhibition is the new “INFOBAR” designed by Naoto Fukasawa.
